I flew (by myself) to Virginia for the weekend to be a bridesmaid in a wedding of a dear childhood friend; Alisa.

Mix and mingle with fun friends new and old
Have an opportunity to be reminded just how long I've been away from the single life - and be thankful for my own path and partner in crime. I can't believe our 10 yr anniversary is JUST around the corner!
Sunday July 4th
Got up at crazy 3:15 in the morning to get a ride to the airport.
Came home to a very quiet childless house...The kids had been shipped up to Iowa for Grandma and Grandpa camp while I was away.
After some Chinese take-out for lunch I had the luxury of falling asleep while watching a movie - can't remember the last time I've done that! :)
Mon, July 5th-Wed July 7th:
David's summer class had finished so we spent our days on our own time frame. Did a lot of resting, movie watching and just relaxing - it was wonderful!!! We talked to the boys while they were in Iowa just about every day and they were having a ball so that made it even easier to kick back.
Thursday, July 8th
Back to business of 'real life':
Spent the day driving to Minneapolis, MN to look at potential housing to live in when we move at the end of the mo.We spent all of Friday driving around view our options.
Here's where we'll be for the next year!
It truly feels like a provision from the Lord. We'll be renting from a family who are missionaries in China until they return next July. They are offering us an extremely good rent compared to the other properties that we saw and they are not requiring a deposit of any kind.
It's downtown right around the corner from the Metrodome - inner city living to the max! The neighborhood is considered one of the most culturally diverse areas in the country! Apparently, there are over 200 different languages spoken. Just driving and walking around, it was obvious that we'd be 'out of our element' but it'll be exciting and educational for sure. We had concerns about the safety of living in this environment and consulted many locals which gave many different opinions. We learned that one does have to be aware of their surroundings, but over all the area has been getting better and better especially in the last ten years. The current tenants are also a young family with 3 children and reassured us immensely. It will also help that Bethlehem Baptist Church (where John Piper teaches) is just a few blocks away as well!
Thankfully, we got word that Owen was also accepted to a nearby private Christian School called Hope Academy. He's super pumped to ride the bus!

Sunday, we made our final trek back to Arkansas as a reunited family.
This week, the packing has begun along with a never-ending list of things to-do to prepare for the big move.
Owen is super excited. Every day he asks what we're packing up next. I love that kid's enthusiastic and adventurous spirit.

yoo-hoo!!!! selfishly, i am so excited for you guys!!! and that i will get to see you more than every three years, now!!! yay!!!! still sad, though, that we were there simultaneously this summer and didn't get to connect. must remedy that with our next trip!
